TERRITORY MANAGER TERRITORY MANAGER

This individual will maintain sales programs within assigned territory by keeping customers informed about pricing and new products. They will provide customers with technical expertise as to product applications, current, and future needs, and use computer-aided design software to develop electrical and product designs for customer quotes.

Additionally, the Territory Manager will interface with engineering and manufacturing on prototypes, as well as monitor competitive activity and trends within assigned territory. Other aspects include traveling to customer locations for follow up, presentations or demonstrations, working with advertising and engineering to develop text, pictures, etc. for advertising purposes, and assisting with the preparation of trade shows.

DUTIES

Support marketing and sales goals in determining current customer needs and future opportunities

Sales and marketing to ensure judicious selection and management of strategic accounts

Interface with customers, engineering, and manufacturing to develop products that meet customer’s current and future needs

Manage product portfolio, eliminating obsolete products and championing new products

Improve customer service before and after delivery

Excellent written and oral communications skills

Strong negotiation skills

Able to handle large customers (prefer someone with established relationships)

Experienced working with a variety of functional groups, e.g. engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing, and operations

Able to adapt to rapidly changing markets, management structure, and corporate culture

DESIRED SKILLS

Must understand the technology and the market from a technical applications perspective

Good engineering aptitude, electrical or mechanical (degree preferred but not required)

Ability to track quotes that are produced daily

Ability to follow-up with customers on quotations as well as potential orders

Capable of being cross-trained on all products to enhance Sales possibilities

Capable of interpreting Customer Specifications

Capable of performing contract review

Willingness to work in a team environment

Understands and performs Lean Manufacturing concepts and Principles

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

6 to 8 years of related sales experience (or AA degree with 5 to 8 years of related experience); (or BS degree plus 3 to 5 years of related experience)

Effective, persuasive communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries

Math and measurement skills

Ability to define and solve complex problems

Leadership and strong inter-personal skills

Ability to be an effective trainer

Superior product knowledge

Extensive computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Ability to make good decisions and complete projects

Engineering background, mechanical ability, and electrical knowledge; (knowledgeable of the manufacturing process is desirable)

Demonstrated ability to present information through the spoken and written word

Demonstrated ability to work with people in such a manner as to achieve common goals, objectives and group commitments

Demonstrated ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgments and a realistic understanding of issues
